Practice Schedule

NCAWPA has both dragon boat and outrigger competitive teams. Weather permitting, members of these teams can be found on the water honing their skills throughout the year. If competition isn't for you, the recreational paddler can take advantage of the various opportunities to practice without making a commitment to compete. Paddling is both fun and a good workout.

Thursday or Sunday practices are occasionally followed by potluck barbecues (see the signup sheet for details)! All paddlers are welcome - just bring something to share!

The DC Dragons practice four times a week. The practices marked "Novice" are novice-friendly. If you're a new paddler, we recommend you attend one of those sessions first! If you're an experienced paddler, you can expect the novice-friendly practices to focus more on form and technique, while the other practices will be more difficult, focusing on endurance and race technique. If you plan to attend a session, especially if this is your first time, please sign up by adding your name to the DC Dragons Practice Sign Up.

NCA Outrigger practices also occur several times a week. All scheduled practices are open to paddlers, but if this is your first time, please come to the Novice practice. If you plan to attend a session, especially if this is your first time, please sign up by adding your name to the Google Spreadsheet.

Remember, new paddlers are always welcome! But please try to arrive early so we can help you learn the basics before we go out on the water.
